GeoPl@ntNet, a web platform to explore biodiversity indicators at EU scale

GeoPl@ntNet is an interactive web platform that provides high-resolution, AI-generated maps of plant species distribution and biodiversity indicators across Europe. It makes Essential Biodiversity Variables accessible and easy to understand through intuitive maps, region selection, and detailed reports.

Users can visualise species or habitat distributions at 50x50m resolution, select specific areas to explore local biodiversity, and generate reports with indicators such as the number of protected, endemic, or invasive species in the region. GeoPl@ntNet addresses gaps in habitat mapping, species listing, and predictive biodiversity insights, while supporting environmental monitoring, conservation planning, and land management.

The platform currently covers continental Europe and serves individuals, academia, and public authorities working in climate action, environmental management, and research. Future development aims to extend temporal exploration, improve accuracy, and expand the platform to larger spatial scales.

GeoPl@ntNet can be adapted to new regions and resolutions, offering an accessible tool for policymakers, researchers, and environmental managers.
