Over four years and across seven European countries, the MAMBO consortium developed, tested and demonstrated a new generation of monitoring tools that combine artificial intelligence, computer vision, bioacoustics, remote sensing (including LiDAR), drones and citizen science. By applying these tools across a diverse set of European demonstration sites, we have produced high‑resolution, harmonised data and indicators for species and habitats where knowledge gaps have long limited effective conservation action.
In the course of four years, MAMBO's partners actively worked to ensure that the project's tools and insights are directly relevant to European priorities, including the EU Biodiversity Strategy for 2030, and can be integrated into existing monitoring schemes and research infrastructures.
Discover policy briefsMAMBO's topical collection in the RIO Journal hosts significant findings and outcomes from the project — from data papers and methods to software descriptions, project reports and research articles. This collection provides a transparent and lasting record of the project's work and ensures that MAMBO's results will remain accessible to researchers, practitioners and decision-makers well beyond the lifetime of the project.
